An Important Notice for all IT Administrators
Upon delivery of your UniFund servers, each are configured for optimal performance with your UniFund product. Just like your automobile, your server requires maintenance. I’d like to take this opportunity to discuss in brief detail a few key areas you or your IT staff should be focused on.
The IT department here at UniFund wants to make certain your servers are running at their optimal performance levels, your data is routinely being backed up, stored and secured in an offsite location, and your server is updated with the latest Microsoft security patches and fixes.
- The first area to focus on is the monitoring of Microsoft Server Event Logs, Microsoft SQL Maintenance Plans and jobs, your third party backup logs, and free and utilized disk space. Spend a few minutes examining these important components of your UniFund server(s) on a regular basis. Events such as low disk space or errors in backing up SQL databases should be reviewed and acted upon with the highest priority.
- The second area to focus on is managing your UniFund data. Key points here include performing daily full backups, testing backups through restores, and examining your backup job and logs. Also, we strongly urge you to store backed up data offsite in a secure location.
- The last area to focus on is keeping your servers up- to-date with the latest software and security patches. We strongly recommend that you routinely install the latest updates that are made available through Microsoft’s website. Also, we recommend that you run the latest versions and service patches for the following third party software packages: UPS software, antivirus, and backup software.
Your data and UniFund servers are very important to us. We want to make certain you have the necessary tools to properly monitor and maintain your UniFund servers.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about this information.
